ANDROID 6.x.x+ CAUSES KODI TO CRASH

Post by kerikhaos » Sun Dec 11, 2016 11:27 pm

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT PLEASE READ..............

Ok to sum this up quickly and not make a HUGE fuss over this post - there has been a reported issue with systems running androids version 6 operating system or above which casues kodi to crash out after entering and then exiting a stream. This is reported to us by a number of our members and box owners who have picked up our latest budget entry box (the Q-BOX) and the newer S912 box (the U2) where both are running Android version 6. We discovered this to be a simple setting which needed to be turned off in KODI. Some of you will recognise this as the same setting which we had in the passed with another specific model of box and again kodi playing back incorrect visuals or no visuals at all.

The setting which needs to be turned off is the amcodec accelerator as this is no longer used as a core feature in the android 6 architecture. Simply going to............

SYSTEM => VIDEO => ACCELERATION

Then untick the settings for the amcodec accelerator. To test, go access a stream, play a bit of it and then exit and go back to the main menu. If you do not crash then you are fixed up to go. Thats all it was. If you still have some issues (users who have bought another box from another supplier) then please untick the 3rd accelerator (mediacodec) not the one which says "surface". Try and test your playback again and let us know if this solved your playback and stability issues with kodi.

Thanks for giving us some time to solve this for you but at the same time users running Android 5.x.x stay unaffected by this problem.

Let us know if you experience any further issues with kodi on version 6 so we have a chance to iron out the bugs and keep users informed.

Thanks again and keep those messages coming through to us
